Saturday, March 16, 2019, Bond County Historical Society hosts their 16th Quilt Show at the Greenville Free Methodist Church, 1367 Route 140, Greenville, Illinois. The popular event will be open to the public with an admission of $3.00 from 9:00am until the viewers’ choice prizes are awarded at 4:00pm. Antique Quilt Bed Turnings are scheduled for 10:00am and 2:00pm. Project/technique demonstrations are planned for 11:00am, 12:00pm, and 1:00pm.
Over 100 quilts are expected to be on display at the quilt show. There will be Viewers’ Choice prizes awarded in four regular categories. A special “Celebrations” theme category will be judged by a select panel and awarded its own prize. Quilt block contest entries utilizing the theme “Celebrations” will also be on display.
This year’s featured quilters: Ginny Ennen, Georgianne Tompkins, and Janice Tompkins of Pleasant Mound, Illinois, will have many of their quilts spotlighted in a special display.
Don’t miss the old fashioned “bed turning” at 10am and again at 2pm. A stack of quilts are removed one by one from a bed frame as family stories and meanings of the handiwork are told about each.
Raffles include a special “Courthouse Steps” pattern bed quilt and a “Sewing Machine” painted Barn Quilt. Also enjoy quilt and handicraft vendors, scissor sharpening, merchandise tables, and door prizes.
