Seaming together friendships one stitch at a time!
Hello fellow quilters! Where has the summer gone? As I write this letter we are getting ready for our second quilting day this summer. July was a great success with 28 quilters. There are 30 signed up for August. The September meeting is going to be jam packed with activities. Please be on time and ready to go by 7 pm. Pastor Tim will be addressing the group along with our presenting the large group of quilts for the Kids without Beds program. Nancy Stone and some of her committee members from this program will be on hand to receive the quilts. We ask that you bring your finished quilts although we will present more quilts at the October meeting if you haven’t quite got yours done. The quilts and beds are being distributed in October. Thanks to all who have given of the time and fabric for these quilts.
Because this meeting is so busy I am asking that you hold all other show ‘n tell projects until October. Plans for the year are under way by all of our committees. The raffle quilt will be unveiled at our meeting. I am asking for the following committees to have short reports at this meeting: Challenge Quilt, Mentoring, Programs, Raffle Quilt.
If you have not paid your dues, please pay them either before or at the meeting in September. We need this info so that we can have the directories printed and ready for you in October.
The new website is up and running. Check it out at www.haaqg.com if you haven’t already done so.
The board has approved a new budget and fee schedule which you will find in this newsletter. We felt it was time to up the cost of our classes (haven’t changed in over 20 years) since the cost of the teachers has continued to rise. So effective for the 2018-2019 guild year class prices will be $35 for members and $45 for non-members. The change that has been made for this year is that we are only registering the number of students that the teacher allows in their contract. After the classes are full you have two options if you want to take the class:
This year the executive board would like to see our guild help support the Mennonite Church of Normal by having everyone bring One item for the shopping cart in the lobby. A non-perishable item that can be used in the local food pantry. Just bring an item each month and let's keep their cart full. A can of vegetables, soup, dry pasta, cereal or whatever you have. Thanks! Let's keep their cart filled the first of every month!!
I am looking forward to seeing all our members and getting us off to a great year. If you have any questions, you may contact me or another exec board member.
