Seaming together friendships—one stitch at a time!
As I sit here writing my last President’s letter I am thinking back over this year. I want to thank all the guild members who helped and guided me along the way. I could not have done it without you. My fellow officers, Gerry Schrock, Deborah Hutchins and Bev Elder have been wonderful to work with over the past year. All those who stepped up to chair a committee or be on a committee I say thank you. We are an organization who cannot survive without our volunteers. I encourage each of you in the next year to step up and help out in some way.
There are a few openings for the summer retreat. The committee is working hard planning the two days for everyone to enjoy. Our theme is simple “Sewing with friends”. I have enjoyed making a few new friends this past year and getting to know more of you. Please sign up for the summer sewing days as they will keep those friendships going and maybe you can even meet someone new.
Ruth Taha has done an excellent job the past two years running our quilt spectrum. It is with sadness that we have to say goodbye to her as they move to Indiana to be closer to their children. I wish them well and know we are going to miss all the things she has done for the guild. The quilt show went well. It may be a little while before Bev has all the final reports for us, but family must come first and she needs this time with them.
I ask that you give Gerry Schrock the same respect and help that you have given me. I also ask that you keep Bev Elder and her family in your prayers as they are going through a difficult time. I hope to see many of you at the Salad Supper.
Carolyn Gatenby, President 2017-18
