Hands All Around Quilt Guild is a member-led organization. Our elected board provides leadership, stewardship, and continuity for the guild, while committee chairs and volunteers turn ideas into programs, activities, community service, and Quilt Spectrum. Serving on the board or a committee is one way members can contribute their experience, interests, and skills to the future of HAAQG. Leadership does not mean doing everything yourself—it means working with other members, communicating clearly, making thoughtful decisions, and helping the guild carry out its purpose.
What Does It Mean to Serve on the Board?
Board members have responsibilities beyond their individual positions. Together, the board:
keeps the guild focused on its mission and purpose
makes decisions in the best interest of the organization
provides responsible oversight of guild finances and resources
supports committees and special projects
helps establish priorities and policies
plans for the guild's future
communicates with members
encourages participation and develops future leaders
helps ensure continuity when officers and committee chairs change
How Committees Fit In
The board helps guide the guild. Committees help make the guild happen.
Committees organize much of what members experience throughout the year. Committee chairs coordinate the work, but successful committees depend on members who are willing to help with individual projects, recurring tasks, or occasional activities.
