Quilt Spectrum 2018
2018 Quilt Spectrum Winners Slideshow2018 Spectrum Quilt ShowThe 2018 Spectrum Quilt Show will take place Friday and Saturday, April 13 and 14, 2018, at the Parke Regency Hotel and Conference Center. The location is the same as last year’s show, but the date is a little later.
For the moment, I am looking for volunteers for the following committees:
To volunteer, see me at the September meeting, email me (rataha2@hotmail.com) or give me a call 309 830-0520. If you have not worked on a show before, you have missed out on the fun that it is when everything comes together. So be first in line to volunteer. We need your input in the quilt board meetings leading up to the show. IMPORTANT! The Put Up/Take Down Committee needs some new blood. Last year’s chair, Ruth Novosad, and her assistant, Mary Sanko, worked out an attractive and useable layout which showcased our quilts nicely. (A shout out to Cheryl Adam who actually put the plan on paper.) We have the plans in our files for the show, and they can be used again this year. This committee involves receiving and organizing the quilt entries as they come in, deciding what order to put them in, putting up the frames, hanging the quilts, and taking them down at the end. It works best if the chairperson or members of the committee have family members to help. Husbands and grown children typically pitch in to help with hanging the higher quilts. This year the committee worked all day Wednesday, part of the day Thursday, enjoyed the show Friday or Saturday, and had the quilts down and everything ready for pickup between four thirty and six on Saturday. There are always willing hands to finish up after the show on Saturday. This committee is at the very heart of the show and needs new people to learn how to do it. Last year’s chairman is willing to mentor new people. Contact me or Ruth Novosad to ask about chairing or serving on this committee or with any other questions. Thank you. I am looking forward to another year of meetings and of learning new ideas for quilting. Ruth Taha "Quilts Between Friends" - Bedturning 2018 Quilt ShowQuilts Between Friends is the theme of the bedturning. Did you and a friend decide on this fabric? Did you go shopping together? All props will be checked in and out to insure their saftey. A reminder card will be mailed/emailed to you prior to the show. Thank you! Thank you for helping to make this year's show a success. Raffle Quilt 2018The raffle quilt, “Bunny in the Blooms,” was unveiled at the September guild meeting. The quilt is 94” square.
